The Splash Zone 1/2/17: Dolphins Locked Into Sixth Seed After Loss To Patriots

Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours.

After the loss to the Patriots, the Dolphins are officially locked into the sixth seed. The Dolphins will travel to the Steel City to take on the Steelers. This makes it bad for me as I live in the middle of Steeler Country, so I'm going to be dealing with smack talk all week. But I am so happy (and I know all Dolfans are) that the team is actually in the postseason. It was a great/memorable season and the arrow is pointing up with Adam Gase at the helm.

You can check out that story here, and the rest of the day's round-up below.

MIAMI GARDENS — So much has been made about Miami Dolphins such as Cameron Wake who have never appeared in an NFL playoff game. It's been a bit overlooked that starting quarterback — for now — Matt Moore has appeared in 45 games over 10 seasons, but never in a playoff game.

Dolphins Wide Receivers

Dolphins Defensive Line

Miami Dolphins Cam Wake and Ndamukong Suh must carry historically bad defense | The Daily Dolphin
MIAMI GARDENS — Not a single one of the 6,122 yards the Miami Dolphins defense has allowed this season will matter, if they can find a way to win at the Pittsburgh Steelers, in a playoff game next weekend. This is, statistically, the worst season a Dolphins defense has ever had.

Are Miami Dolphins finished with DE Mario Williams after healthy scratch? | The Daily Dolphin
MIAMI GARDENS--Mario Williams is one of the highest-paid players on the Dolphins' roster, and his lackluster time in Miami might be finished. Williams was a healthy scratch for today's 35-14 loss to the Patriots, the latest mile-marker in a tumultuous season for him, and he's got a week to pu...
