Love her or hate her, Dawn Aponte has made her presence felt throughout her 25 years in the NFL. She worked her way up from the bottom of the totem pole, and is now stepping down from her role within the Dolphins’ organization. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Aponte will be leaving the NFL to join Matt Higgins, and become an Executive of Stephen Ross’ RSE Ventures.
"I've had an amazing experience in the NFL with all the different things I've been able to do and touch and experience," Aponte said. "In our conversations we discussed how I could best use my experience and expand it to more business involvement. This is something new where I can contribute but also grow and develop."
Dawn Aponte will likely going be the top executive alongside Matt Higgins. The two will try to help grow Stephen Ross’ drone racing league, which Ross has invested valuable money in. Aponte was eager to take the next step in her career and despite leaving the NFL, the two will remain close. Her role has just expanded, and she’s become more valuable of an asset to Ross than ever before.
Filling the role left behind by Aponte is Senior Director for Human Resources Brandon Shore, who will now be dealing with the Dolphins cap and contract situations. Shore, has been with the Dolphins for six years. Starting as an intern under Aponte, he will now become her successor.
Thanks, Dawn!
