Week 3 was ugly for the Dolphins offense in many ways, but they did put up some points in the mess of a game with the Browns. The game rewarded those who started Jarvis Landry, Ryan Tannehill, and DeVante Parker. It seems like there was very little clarity given on the Dolphins backfield, but here are the guys to play in your fantasy lineup this week.
Note: The point projections are based on a standard PPR league scoring (0.5 PPR) with fractional points.
START
Ryan Tannehill (QB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 18.12 PTS
Tannehill seems to go up and down every week. He leads the Dolphins down the field for only about two quarters per game so far this season. He put up decent numbers against the Browns with 319 passing yards and three touchdowns, but the two picks (one returned for a touchdown) are concerning especially against a depleted Browns secondary. This week I expect solid numbers from Tannehill again as Cincinnati has allowed nine passing touchdowns this year ranking 31st in the league. The Dolphins also have a non-existent running game forcing Tannehill to throw the ball a lot.
Jarvis Landry (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 14.41 PTS
Landry may have single handedly saved your fantasy team last week with his monstrous game of seven catches, 120 yards, and his first touchdown of the year. I don’t expect the Bengals to cut Landry’s production much this week for the previously mentioned reasons that Tannehill will succeed as well. Landry’s questionable status for this week is nothing to concern yourself with. The coaching staff has been managing his practice reps this week and he will be good to go in Cincy.
DeVante Parker (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 10.97 PTS
Parker is proving to be one of the Dolphins most promising young playmakers. Tannehill obviously has a lot of trust in the second year man out of Louisville and consistently finds Parker down the field. Parker had 51 yards and a touchdown on only three receptions.
SIT
Dolphins Defense/Special Teams – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 5.16 PTS
This could go either way, but on a short week heading to a tough environment I wouldn’t expect a lot. The Bengals don’t have impressive numbers only averaging 18 points per game, but they have also faced three very good defenses (NYJ, PIT, DEN).
Kenny Stills (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 7.54 PTS
Stills had a solid game against the Browns with five catches for 76 yards and he may not be a bad Flex option if you are facing injuries.
Jay Ajayi/Kenyan Drake (RB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 6.82/8.01
Unless you’re facing a lot of injuries or a devastating bye week there shouldn’t be any Dolphins starting in your running back positions. This could change if Drake or Ajayi can emerge as a consistent rushing threat, but as for now its Russian roulette in the Dolphins backfield. Drake still has the most upside for a waiver wire pickup as he is looking like a possible long term option, but if you have limited bench space there are better places to look.
*Jordan Cameron has been ruled out for Thursday night’s game because of concussion protocol.
