Keys to week 3

Two very rough games to begin a season for a new coach and young team. Now we have a "winnable" game with Cleveland that will be starting their 3rd QB in as many games. Here are my keys to actually winning a game and getting to 1-2 and 1-0 at the new upgraded stadium.

1) Effective running game. We must control the clock. We will never just pound people, but we must not have Tannehill as our leading runner. I really want to see Pead and Drake get the bulk of the work. Either way I think we need a 100 yard game by our backs with Tannehill chipping in 30 or so.

2) No huddle all game and let's see what Tannehill and the WR's can do. To do this we must run the ball effectively and be sound in the passing game.

3) Tighten up the coverage. I don't think Cleveland is as much into short passing as the Patriots, but we cannot allow a sorry QB to make easy throws. Tighten up and let our front 4 get to the QB. Playing off coverage completely negates having a solid front 4.

4) Win the turnover battle. In a game that became close down the stretch it was ultimately the turnover by Ajayi that cost us. 24-3 and I think we have legit shot. 31-3 and as we saw, it was too much with the clock against us.

5) Stop the run on defense. Put Jones in the box and stop the Brown running game, which is not bad. We must force a 3rd string QB to beat us. The last drive against New England was awful for our defense and scared me how easily schemed we are with them running the same freaking sweep play with the same motion 3 times. We must make much quicker adjustments.

6) Get a lead and let us enjoy a home crowd. I think with the new stadium, new coach, etc... We have a great chance to have a good crowd Sunday. Have to get a lead and play well for them to get into the game.

7) Special Teams needs to make something happen. I am really hoping to see Grant get a good return this week.

8) Defend the RB's/TE's better in the passing game. We got roasted by NE in those spots. It is on film now and others will attack it. I like Kiko, but he sucks in coverage and Jenkins isn't any better right now. We are being exposed bad in those areas right now.

Hoping we get our first win Sunday, but have some doubts. I'd love to see us finally put a whole game together. Go Phins.
