Week two of the 2016 NFL season kicks off this evening with the Thursday Night Football matchup between two of the Miami Dolphins division rivals, the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills. These two teams last met in their final game of the 2015 season. In that game, the Jets needed only one final victory to earn the team their first playoff berth in five years. The Jets were left with only disappointment after losing their second game of the season to the Bills and their former head coach, Rex Ryan. Not only did they lose but they lost in epic fashion with Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing three interceptions in the fourth quarter alone.
The Jet's are no doubts looking to gain a bit of redemption after their woeful showing against the Bills last season. Unfortunately for the Jets, the recent trends do not lend to them walking away with a victory this evening having not beaten Buffalo in their last five tries and having not come away with a victory in Buffalo dating back to the 2011 season. Both teams enter the night with a 0-1 record. Going all the way back to the 1990 season, only 26 teams have earned a playoff birth after going 0 and 2 (a rate of 12 percent) making this game all that more important for both clubs.
