Dolphins at Giants recap: Miami defensive snap counts

New, comments

A look back at the Dolphins at Giants games using Miami’s defensive snap counts per player.

NFL: Preseason-Miami Dolphins at New York Giants Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, we took a look at the Miami Dolphins’ snap counts for the offense from their game against the New York Giants. Now, we turn to the snap counts for the defensive players and the special teamers from Friday night for Miami.

Usually, we take a look at these weekly during the regular season to see how players are being used, and maybe get an idea of how the coaches see players evolving during the season. During the preseason, and especially the first preseason game, it is a little more confusing, because key players play little, second-string players could see a lot of playing, or they could sit quickly to give younger players some experience. It is hard to judge - especially with a new coaching staff - exactly what every snap means for a players’ chances to make the roster, unless they are a sure starter.
