Dolphins at Giants halftime report: Miami leads 17-10; Second half live chat

NFL: Preseason-Miami Dolphins at New York Giants William Hauser-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins lead 17-10 at halftime over the New York Giants.

It has not been a pretty game for Miami, who have struggled on both offense and defense, but they still lead mid-way through their first preseason game. The Dolphins offense did not gain a first down until nine minutes into the second quarter and the offensive line has been allowing pressure way too easily, but the points finally started appearing for the South Florida team.

The first touchdown came after a Spencer Paysinger fumble recovery gave Miami first-and-goal at the five yard line. Damien Williams ran the ball in on the next play. The second touchdown came on an odd play where Matt Hazel ran his route out of bounds, then reestablished himself in-bounds, and found a ball intended for A.J. Cruz from Matt Moore landing in Hazel’s hands off a Cruz tip. Hazel basically walked into the endzone after that.

The Miami scoring started with a 49-yard field goal from Andrew Franks.

Ryan Tannehill and the Miami first-team offense struggled in their two possessions. On four pass attempts, Tannehill was rushed or hit on three of them.

The first-team defense for Miami was without starters Cameron Wake, Ndamukong Suh, Mario Williams, and Reshad Jones for the game.

The game was delayed about an hour due to lightning over the stadium.
