The Miami Dolphins and New York Giants have been delayed due to lightning. The game was scheduled to kickoff at 7pm ET, but the stands have been cleared in the stadium and the teams have remained in the locker room.

The lightning is directly over MetLife Stadium. No time for a rescheduled kickoff has been announced, and the delay is expected to last for awhile.

Locally in Miami, CBS has turned to Entertainment Tonight during the delay. Weather forecasts indicate the storm is scheduled to pass over MetLife Stadiun by 7:30. Whenever the all-clear signal is given, the teams will be allowed a 10 minute warm-up period prior to the coin toss and start of the game.

The game is the first preseason contest for both the Dolphins and the Giants. The game is expected to feature younger players and players further down the depth chart for both teams. Running back Arian Foster, defensive ends Cameron Wake and Mario Williams, safety Reshad Jones, and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh are all not expected to play for Miami, while quarterback Eli Manning is not scheduled to appear for the Giants.

UPDATE:

The game is anticipated to kickoff around 7:50. Fans were allowed back into the seating area at 7:30, with the teams expected to start warming up shortly.
