NFL: Indianapolis Colts at New York Giants Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins open their 2016 preseason campaign on Friday with a visit to the New York Giants. The first preseason game is not as much about the starters for either team, as it is a chance to shake off some rust, play full speed with live tackling, and get experience for the younger players on the roster. Both the Dolphins and the Giants will likely hold some starters out of the game, while the rest of the top players on the depth chart will make cameo appearances in the first and second possessions before being pulled.

Miami has already ruled running back Arian Foster out of the game, and they are not expected to play Cameron Wake either - unless Wake manages to talk his way into the lineup. Both teams will look at the game in terms of risk for injury versus benefit of play.
