Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Antonio Armstrong and his wife were killed on Friday at their Houston, Texas home, according to reports. The couple’s 16-year-old son has been charged in the crime.
Armstrong and his wife were reportedly in their bedroom early Friday morning when the shooting occurred. Dawn Armstrong was found dead at the scene, Antonio was rushed to the hospital and initially listed as in critical condition before he was declared dead due to a gunshot wound to the head.
The couple’s daughter was home at the time of the shooting, but was not injured.
Antonio played for the Dolphins in 1995, appearing in four games. He was originally drafted in the sixth-round of that season’s draft by the San Francisco 49ers after playing collegiate football at Texas A&M. Since leaving football, he and his wife have run First Class Training, a gym in the Houston area, as well as Antonio working as a motivational speaker.
Thoughts and prayers to the Armstrong family as they try to make sense of an incredibly difficult system.
