Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was named to hist first Pro Bowl after the 2015 season. On Wednesday, he was named to the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016 list for the first time. After voting by the players of the league, he came in as the 64th player in the game.
"This entire season, people were saying how I was perhaps the best safety in the NFL," Tyrann Mathieu said in the NFL.com video announcing Jones' inclusion on the list. "But, the whole time, I was looking at Reshad's stats and it was off the charts. He had like 100 tackles, like five sacks, like five interceptions, and I'm just like, 'How can I keep up with this dude?'"
Jones finished the 2015 season with 135 tackles, five interceptions including two touchdowns, 10 passes defensed, one fumble recovery, and two sacks. He ranked sixth in interceptions on the year, tied for the league lead with the two touchdowns, and fourth in tackles, the only non-linebacker in the top seven and one of three non-linebackers in the top 15.
"Reshad Jones is one of the guys that I think plays the position like it is supposed to be played, let's put it like that," free agent safety Dashon Goldson said of Miami's safety. "He's aggressive. He likes contact. He can cover and catch. What you want in a safety."
Jones joins receiver Jarvis Landry, who was also named to his first Pro Bowl this year and shared the team's MVP honors with Jones, as the first two Dolphins players on the 2016 Top 100 Players list. Will Miami have anyone else make the countdown?
