Miami trades out of the 5th round of the 2016 NFL Draft; Trade with Patriots

The Miami Dolphins have made a trade to move back in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins have made a trade with their fifth-round draft choice in the 2016 NFL Draft. Miami previously held the 147th overall pick but have sent it to the New England Patriots.

The Dolphins pick up three picks from the Patriots. The first two are sixth round picks, the 196th overall selection and the 204th overall. The also received a seventh round selection, the 250th overall pick.

Could the Dolphins be looking to make a move up, stockpiling late picks to make the trade? That could make some sense in this trade, especially executing the trade well before Miami was on the clock, and even before the fourth round ended.

Round 2 (38th overall) - Traded up - Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor

Round 2 (42nd overall) - Traded to Baltimore for 38th pick

Round 3 (86th overall) - Traded up - Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers

Round 4 (107th overall) - Traded to Baltimore for 38th pick

Round 5 (147th overall) - Traded to New England Patriots for 196th, 204, and 250th

Round 6 (186th overall) - Traded to Minnesota for 86th pick

Round 6 (196th overall) - From Houston via New England
