Dolphins 'Color Rush' uniforms on tap for 2016

New, comments

The NFL tested the "Color Rush" uniforms in four Thursday Night Football games in 2015. That uniform alternative is expected to become standard for the 2016 Thursday night games.

Red versus Green. Blue versus "Gold?" White versus Blue.  Red versus Yellow. Those were the strange color combinations that the NFL debuted during four Thursday Night Football games in 2015. Those four games, featuring the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams, were the introduction to Nike's "Color Rush" alternate jersey schemes. In 2015, that is all it was, an introduction. In 2016, the Color Rush is expected to return, and it could return for each Thursday night game.

According to a recent statement from Detroit Lions president Rod Wood, "All teams that play on Thursday this year will wear a color rush uniform."

The NFL schedule typically schedules at least one Thursday game for each of the 32 NFL teams, including the three Thanksgiving Day games. It is unclear whether those games on Thanksgiving will be included in the color rush theme.

If the league does continue to put each team in a Thursday game, that would mean the Miami Dolphins would probably be in a color rush uniform this year. Using last year as the example, the color rush alternative is usually a secondary color for the team, rather than the normal colors they wear, and it is a matching jersey and pants combination. Given Miami used the all aqua look last year and wearing white is standard for the team, those two colors are likely out. That would probably mean the Dolphins' color rush uniform is either orange or blue.

Which would you prefer?

Who out there has the Photoshop skills to give us and idea of the possible the Dolphins' color rush uniforms in orange and blue?
