The Miami Dolphins traded up four positions in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft's second round to select Baylor cornerback Xavien Howard. The move gives the Dolphins a player at a position of need and one that should be able to come in and start right away. To move up the four positions, the Dolphins sent the Baltimore Ravens their 4th round pick in addition to the 42nd spot they previously held.
Howard is 6-feet tall, weighing in at 201 pounds and he should be able to continue to be an island cornerback as he was in college. He plays physically and should quickly transition to the NFL - though he may get some early penalties for using his hands too much.
Coincidentally, CBS Sports' Draft Profile of Howard compares him to Miami cornerback Byron Maxwell. Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph may have a type when it comes to cornerbacks.
Which brings us to the poll. Vote for your grade for the Dolphins' pick of Howard and discuss in the comments below.
