Matt Forte joining the Jets according to Adam Schefter

The New York Jets will add free agent running back Matt Forte, according to a report.

The Miami Dolphins lost running back Lamar Miller to the Houston Texans, seeing him sign a four year, $26 million contract, and now they do not have one of their top replacement options.

The Dolphins were reported to have interest in Forte. Miami head coach Adam Gase was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears last year, working with Forte. Speculation had the two reuniting in Miami, but now it appears Gase will be coaching against Forte twice a season in AFC East divisional games, rather than coaching him for 16 games.

Forte ran for 898 yards on 218 carries with four touchdowns last season, while catching 44 passes for 389 yards and three scores. In his eight years with Chicago, who selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Forte has 8,602 rushing yards with 45 touchdowns and a 4.2 yards per carry average. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2013.
