The Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a trade (then it was off, then it was back on) that sent linebacker Kiko Alonso and cornerback Byron Maxwell to South Florida. In exchange, the Dolphins and Eagles swapped first-round draft choices, with Miami moving back to the 13th overall selection while the Eagles moved up to the eighth pick.
The trade was put on hold briefly on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning when concerns of a shoulder injury to Maxwell surfaced. The Dolphins took a closer look at the data from their physical, looking at the sprained shoulder Maxwell suffered late in the 2015 season, and eventually cleared him and turned on the trade again.
Maxwell will come into this season accounting for a $8.5 million against the salary cap for the Dolphins. He is scheduled to account for $10 million in each season from 2017 through 2020, but is expected to sign a restructured contract that will lower his cap number after this year. Alonso is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and will long account for $991,418 against the Dolphins' cap.
Which brings us to the poll. What do you think of the trade? Vote below and be sure to discuss in the comments.
