Linebacker Sean Spence Set to Visit the Dolphins

The Dolphins continue to look towards free agency to improve their defense.

Free agent linebacker Sean Spence is meeting with the Dolphins tonight, per ProFootballTalk.

The former University of Miami standout was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.  During his rookie year, Spence suffered a season-ending knee injury that caused the linebacker to miss the entire 2012 season.  His knee injury was so severe, the linebacker was placed on injured reserve again in 2013.

After missing his first two seasons, Spence made his NFL regular season debut in September 2014, finishing the year with 53 tackles and 1 sack.  In 2015, Spence recorded 37 tackles and 1 sack.  If signed, Spence would likely compete for a starting job with fellow linebackers Koa Misi, Jelani Jenkins and Kiko Alonso.

If the Dolphins manage to sign Spence, he would be a welcomed addition to a defense that ranked among the league's worst in 2015.
