Miami Dolphins fans are enjoying a ride that currently has the team in the AFC Wildcard position for the Playoffs. Do not tell the team that, however, as they are not ready to look at the postseason, trying to focus more on what has to be done this week as they travel to face the Baltimore Ravens.
Coincidentally, if the Playoffs were to start today, the Dolphins would face the Ravens in Baltimore as part of Wildcard weekend.
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about,” Dolphins right tackle Ja’Wuan James answered when asked about the “p-word.”
“Oh,” he answered when told the “p-word” was Playoffs. Continuing with a laugh, he added, “No, we haven’t…We haven’t really talked about it. We like to just talk about being 1-0 this week because this week is our next game.”
Dolphins fans are tracking exactly where the team is in terms of postseason seeding and chances to make the Playoffs for the first times since 2008. James, asked if he knows where the team is in the current standings, quickly replied, “No, sir.”
“You can’t pay attention to that,” left tackle Branden Albert replied when asked about the Playoff standings. “Just concentrate on individual days and individual games, because you never know how things are going to end up.”
When reporters continued to ask about ALbert the possibility, James, according to Adam Beasley, was quick to interrupt, telling them they “gotta stop using the P-word.”
The Dolphins players do not seem to want to talk about the Playoffs yet. As fans, dreams of making it back to the championship tournament are fun. For the team, the only thing they want to discuss is what is coming up next.
This week, that will be the Ravens.
Just as it would be if this were the Playoffs.
