The Dolphins are well rested after a nicely place bye and riding a two-game win streak as the hated Jets make their annual trip to South Beach. Jay Ajayi made me look like a prophet two weeks ago when he stomped the Bills defense all over the field. Can he do it again to an ailing New York? And how about that call to drop Arian Foster in Week 6…I’m so hot there is only one way to go now which is scary.
Note: The point projections are based on a standard PPR league scoring (0.5 PPR) with fractional points.
START
Ryan Tannehill (QB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 18.22 PTS
The Jets gave up 22 points to Josh McCown last week so yeah I have to think Tannehill on two weeks’ rest with his healthy offensive line will thrash the Jets. New York should be keying on Jay Ajayi which should open up some big play action pass opportunities to find Stills and Parker downfield.
Jarvis Landry (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 14.52 PTS
Landry has had no scores the last two weeks yet is still putting up some solid PPR league points (12.6, 12.3). Landry should be able to take advantage of a rather slow Jets secondary and put up another double digit performance. With most teams feeling the injury bug and bye week sits there is no team that can afford NOT to start Landry in Week 9.
Jay Ajayi (RB) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 11.36 PTS
Well two weeks ago Ajayi was projected to score three points after his first 200-yard performance and he decided to make it two weeks in a row with 200, scoring 28.10 points. I do think Ajayi comes back a little closer to Earth’s orbit this week against a pretty solid Jets run defense, but Buffalo hadn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher all season and we know how that went. Until Ajayi lays an egg on Sunday or the offensive line goes back to being broken in half you have to start this guys every week.
Kenny Stills (WR) – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 6.29 PTS
Stills like I’ve said before is a boom or bust type fantasy receiver. He just boomed last game for his first 100-yard performance of the season. This is the type of player you have to gamble on in Week 9 when your lineup is looking thin. His upside is higher than many other options that you have for a Week 9 flex player. The Jets secondary is ripe for the picking and I think Stills is going to go big this weekend.
Dolphins Defense/Special Teams – Yahoo Fantasy Projection: 5.97 PTS
Dolphins defense are well rested and may be adding Chris Culliver to the secondary this weekend to deepen the ranks. Also a little stat that might make you feel better about starting Miami’s defense, New York has given up the MOST fantasy points of any team in the league.
SIT
Devante Parker – Yahoo Fantasy Projections: 10.90 PTS
Parker is the big unit that Tannehill looks for in toss up fade routes and has not held up his end of the bargain so far. It seems like Stills is Tannehill’s preferred downfield sprinting option on play action plays. We need to see a more lethal connection between Parker and Tannehill before I can recommend putting him in as a starter, even during heavy bye weeks. Parker hasn’t scored double digits for four games.
