Miami Dolphins legendary cornerback Sam Madison was faced with a situation no parent ever wants to have happen. Suddenly, after noticing swelling in her legs that eventually reached her abdomen, Kennedy, Sam’s then 10-year-old daughter, was found to have failing kidneys.
After painful dialysis and a blood clot hear her heart, doctors called Sam and informed him he was a perfect match for his daughter. A few days later - and just days before Kennedy’s 11th birthday - Sam and Kennedy were in surgery as Sam donated his kidney to his daughter.
Since the early September procedure, both Kennedy and Sam are doing fine. Kennedy is being home schooled to keep her away from crowds as she continues her recovery.
