Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after his 214 rushing-yard performance against the Buffalo BIlls. It is the second straight week Ajayi has rushed for over 200 yards, making him the fourth running back to complete that feat, joining O.J. Simpson, Earl Campbell, and Ricky Williams. It is also the second-straight Offensive Player of the Week award for Ajayi.

According to NFL Director of Football Communications Randall Liu, AJayis is the first running back to win the award back-to-back since LaDainian Tomlinson did it in 2006.
Ajayi’s 214-yard performance against the top rushing defense in the league came on 29 carries, giving him a 7.38 yard-per-attempt average and included one touchdown. He has jumped to seventh in the NFL in rushing yards this season following the two 200-yard days. His 6.4 yards-per-rush average is 1.4 yards ahead of the second place runner, the Bills’ LeSean McCoy. Ajayi’s 89.2 yards-per-game average is fourth in the league.
The Dolphins have the bye week in Week 8, which will break Ajayi’s streak of Offensive Player of the Week awards. It will also make us wait until Week 9 to see if Ajayi can rush for 200 yards in three straight games.
