That wide net keeps getting wider. The New Orleans Saints appear to be dangling head coach Sean Payton as "trade" bait (technically, a coach cannot be traded, but a team can pay compensation to have another team break the coach's contract). On Monday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport tweeted that the Saints could be willing to part with Payton for a second round Draft pick.
Tuesday, South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly reported that a source "close to the coach" told him that the Miami Dolphins are one of three teams who have expressed interest in talking to Payton. The source added that the position with the Dolphins "indeed interests" Payton.
Miami would have to request permission from the Saints to speak with Payton. Then, if the two sides agree to terms, the Dolphins and Saints would have to agree on the compensation.
The Dolphins own the eighth pick in the first round, which would rotate to become the 11th pick in the second round. Would that second round pick be enough for the Saints? Would the Dolphins be willing to pat that price?
What would you do?
