The Miami Dolphins have been awarded a waiver claim on quarterback Logan Thomas, according to a report from the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley. Thomas was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech.
Thomas appeared in two games as a rookie. He has a career stat line of 1 completion on 9 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.
The addition of a quarterback is a little surprising for the Dolphins, who appeared set with Ryan Tannehill as the starter and Matt Moore as the backup. Will the team carry three quarterbacks this season? Is Moore's position on the roster in danger?
The Dolphins will have to make a corresponding roster move, releasing someone to make space on the 53-man roster. The team has not announced the move, nor officially announced the acquisition of Thomas.
The Dolphins will also sign players to their practice squad today. You can track all of the waiver claim and practice squad rumors and news here.
