The New England Patriots may make the biggest-name roster cut today. According to a report from ESPN, the team is planning to release wide receiver Reggie Wayne, who signed with the club just 10 days ago.
A source just told me that #Patriots WR Reggie Wayne "will not be on 53." Added, "he will not be there."

Wayne was seen as a big signing for the Patriots, who would solidify their wide receiving corps with a veteran, and likely Hall of Fame, presence like Wayne. Now, it appears the experiment of pulling Wayne from the Colts did not work. Wayne caught two passes in the Patriots' last Preseason game, gaining 24 yards. It was believed Wayne just needed time to fully learn the Patriots' playbook before he was fully installed as among the top wide receivers. Instead, he will again be a free agent looking for a new team in 2015.
Update: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wayne asked the Patriots to release him.
