Dolphins 53-man roster cuts: Tim Semisch released

The Miami Dolphins continue the march toward a 53-man roster with the release of tight end Tim Semisch.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins have about 45 minutes to finalize their 53-man roster ahead of today's 4pm ET deadline. They have slowly been working their way down to the regular season roster, though they have not officially announced any of the moves as of yet. Instead, the releases are slowly trickling out through various media reports. The latest includes another player possibly headed to Miami's practice squad:

Semisch joined the Dolphins this offseason as an undrafted rookie out of Northern Illinois after impressing coaches during a rookie tryout during minicamp. He is a project player, but at 6-foot-8 would give the Dolphins an imposing redzone option once he refines his skills. A year on the practice squad could be exactly what Semisch needs.

The move means Miami should head into the season with Jordan Cameron, Dion Sims, and Jake Stoneburner at the tight end position.
