Bills at Dolphins recap: Miami defensive snap counts for Week 3

The Miami Dolphins were decimated by the Buffalo Bills this past weekend. It was an ugly game for Miami in all facets of the game. On defense, the Dolphins could not stop the run, could not stop the pass, and they basically got rolled up by whatever the Bills wanted to do. This morning, we take a look back at the game through the defensive snap counts for Miami.

The Dolphins had two players, safety Reshad Jones and cornerback Brent Grimes, take all 65 defensive snaps during the game. Linebackers Koa Misi and Jelani Jenkins each missed two snaps, giving them a 97-percent snaps played mark. After that, the snap counts drop down to the 80-percent mark with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

After Suh, cornerback Brice McCain appeared in 72-percent of the plays while cornerback Jamar Taylor was in for 65-percent of the plays. Defensive ends Olivier Vernon and Cameron Wake played 63-percent and 62-percent of the snaps, respectively, while safety Michael Thomas appeared in 60-percent of the plays.

Defensive tackle Earl Mitchell took 57-percent of the defensive plays, while defensive end Derrick Shelby appeared in 51-percent of the plays. Linebacker Kelvin Sheppard made 40-percent of the snaps on the day, with defensive end Terrence Fede and safety Walt Aikens each playing 37-percent of the snaps. Defensive tackle C.J. Mosley was in the game for 32-percent of the time, while linebacker Zach Vigil appeared in 23-percent of the snaps.

Defensive tackle A.J. Francis played 17-percent of the game, while cornerback Zack Bowman took 6-percent of the snaps, linebacker Neville Hewitt took 3-percent of the snaps, and linebacker Chris McCain took 2-percent.
