Dolphins vs Redskins inactive players for Week 1

The Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins have released their inactive players list for their Week 1 contest.

The Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins are just over an hour away from kickoff in their Week 1 showdown. According to NFL rules, both teams must declare seven players inactive for the game, players who will not be playing in the contest, giving each club 46 players for the game.

The Dolphins actually have eight have seven players listed on the inactive list, with safety Will Davis, tackle Jason Fox, defensive tackle A.J. Francis, running back Jonas Gray, wide receiver Matt Hazel, cornerback Tony Lippett, linebacker Chris McCain, and cornerback Jamar Taylor all out of the game. Francis and McCain are a little surprising, as both could be contributors this season. Taylor, who had been battling for the starting cornerback spot opposite Brent Grimes, has also been dealing with a leg injury that appears to be keeping him from this week's game.

For the Redskins, the inactive players are tackle Tom Compton, quarterback Robert Griffin III, linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat, guard Arie Kouandjio, guard Spencer Long, tight end Anthony McCoy, and wide receiver Rashad Ross. The fall of RG3 continues, as he now finds himself third on the depth chart and inactive for this week's game - though the team will likely say they are protecting him after a concussion in the Preseason and missed practice time.

The good news for the Dolphins is tackle Branden Albert, who is recovering from a torn right ACL and MCL, and wide receiver DeVante Parker, who had foot surgery in June, are both active and expected to play on Sunday.

Kickoff is at 1pm ET.

UPDATE: The originally released NFL list of inactive players incorrectly identified Taylor as inactive. He is active for the game.
