The Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins will face off this afternoon in the first game of the 2015 NFL season for both clubs. Both teams will be looking to improve on their respective 2014 finishes, where Miami was third in the AFC East and Washington was 4th in the NFC East.
Both teams were middle of the pack in offense last year, though Washington could not score, but they both struggled on defense. Miami still came away with the 12th overall defense in 2014, but that was behind a pass defense that ranked 6th, while scoring and rush defense were in the bottom half of the league. Miami and Washington both addressed the defensive line this offseason, with Miami adding Ndamukong Suh and Washington bringing in Terrance Knighton.
To get a closer look at both teams, we go to the tale of the tape. Since this is the first week of the 2015 season, we compare the 2014 numbers for both teams.
