Brandon Fields release by Dolphins leads to reactions, questions

We take a look at the reactions to news that the Miami Dolphins have release Pro Bowl punter Brandon Fields.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports
The first round of NFL roster cuts typically includes players who were long-shots at best to make the roster in the first place. They do not usually include the release of a player who was in the Pro Bowl just two years earlier and was 11th in the league in any major statistical category the previous season. That's what the Miami Dolphins did today with the release of veteran punter Brandon Fields, who averaged 46.3 yards per kick last year. The release of Fields came as a surprise, with the team choosing to use undrafted rookie Matt Darr over Fields this year. As with any surprise, the reactions quickly began pouring (and still are) all over Twitter.
