The NFL calendar has turned the page to the first deadline for roster cuts heading into the 2015 NFL season. By 4pm ET, every team has to be at the 75-player limit, with the second set of cuts, dropping rosters down to 53 players, coming on Saturday. Between now and then, every team will play their final Preseason game, but today, all the focus is on players being released. The Miami Dolphins begin the day with 77 players, meaning we are all waiting on two more roster moves before Miami is below the limit.
The Dolphins started last weekend with 88 players, two below the offseason limit of 90, having already released wide receiver Michael Preston and having placed safety Louis Delmas on injured reserve. The weekend then consisted of the team playing their third Preseason contest, beating the Atlanta Falcons 13-9 on Saturday, followed by 11 players being released on Sunday. The players released thus far for Miami are:
Calvin Barnett, defensive tackle
Bryant Browning, guard
LaRon Byrd, wide receiver
Kevin Cone, wide receiver
Ray Drew, defensive end
Tyler McDonald, wide receiver
Kendall Montgomery, defensive end
Gerell Robinson, tight end
Sammy Seamster, cornerback
Phillip Thomas, safety
J.D. Walton, center
