Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been sharp throughout the Preseason, making good decisions and demonstrating an improved accuracy. His timing with a new corps of receivers has been impressive, and he has put up the numbers to match. During Saturday night's contest against the Atlanta Falcons, Tannehill finished the game with a 116.0 passer rating for the night and a 121.0 passer rating through the first three preseason contests.
How was Tannehill feeling after another strong performance?
"I was frustrated and I thought we didn't play clean," Tannehill said after the 13-9 win. "We moved the ball I felt like when we didn't kick ourselves in the foot. We had penalties, we had negative plays, it's tough to put drives together when you have those and I expect better out of our offense."
Tannehill was 15-for-19 for 145 yards with a touchdown on the night, but was more focused on what the offense could have done better against the Falcons. "I think we're trending in the right direction," Tannehill explained when asked about the team putting together a long scoring drive in each of the team's three Preseason games. "I think we have a lot of things that we need to clean up that we didn't do well tonight. Too many penalties, our run game wasn't as clean as I'd like to see it and obviously we have some work to do, but whenever you move the ball down the field and score a touchdown is a good feeling."
A quarterback who has a 116.0 passer rating on the day and is not satisfied? Tannehill's play is becoming exactly what the Dolphins need from their quarterback. His determination to be better and drive make the offense better, means Teannehill is becoming exactly what the Dolphins need in their leader.
