The Miami Dolphins announced Monday night a series of roster moves ahead of the team's first preseason game on Thursday. The team signed free agent running back Demitrius Bronson and safety Phillip Thomas. To make roster space, the club waived safety Shamiel Gary and wide receiver Tyler McDonald.

Bronson joins the Dolphins after starting his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks. He signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington in 2014, spending last season on the practice squad. He returned to the Seahawks this offseason before being released in in July.

Thomas spent the 2013 season on injured reserve and the 2014 season split between the practice squad and active roster, both years with the Washington Redskins. He has eight appearances in the NFL, with four starts, and has recorded 26 tackles with one fumble recovery. He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Redskins in 2013 out of Fresno State.

The Dolphins on Tuesday morning are holding their last practice before Thursday's preseason opener.
