There is nothing quite like the build up to free agency in the NFL. Smokescreens abound, speculation runs rampant, and everyone is trying to figure out exactly what everyone else is going to do. It turns into a fun time of the year, but it is the fun you feel after having gotten off of the roller coaster. Until then, the ups, downs, twists, and turns keep you holding on for dear life.
One week from today, the NFL free agency period opens. Between now and then, hold on because the twists and turns are going to take us through, over, under, and back through the smokescreens teams, and agents, are throwing everywhere.
The biggest rumor this week has the Miami Dolphins among the leaders in the Ndamukong Suh sweepstakes. Could Miami fork over the cash to land a player former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik has called the "best player in this generation to hit free agency since Reggie White."
Are they willing to pay something in excess of $100 million with $55 million guaranteed? Is anyone?
Suh is obviously a dominating force in the middle of any defense. He comes with red flags, though, especially with his on-field frustration boiling over at times. That is a ton of money tied up into one player, especially as you look to pay your quarterback as he comes off his rookie contract.
What are your thoughts on the idea of Miami targeting Suh? Vote in the poll and discuss in the comments.
