The Miami Dolphins hosted three free agents on Thursday, coming to terms with one of them. While wide receiver Michael Crabtree and quarterback Tarvaris Jackson do not have contracts, center J.D. Walton did come to terms with the team. The team announced the contract as a one-year agreement.
Walton spent the 2014 season with the New York Giants, starting all 16 games at center for the club. He spent a portion of the 2013 season with the Washington Redskins, after playing for the 2010 to 2013 seasons with the Denver Broncos. Walton started the first 36 games of his career for the Broncos before a dislocated ankle landed him on injured reserve in 2012.
Walton joins the team likely to backup Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey. The Dolphins may look to see if he can start at one of the guard positions as well, challenging Billy Turner and Dallas Thomas for the role.
