Miami Dolphins announce the release of Smith and Wheeler

The Dolphins have officially announced the release of guard Shelley Smith and linebacker Philip Wheeler today. The release of Smith will save the Dolphins 2.75 million with only $250,000 in dead money. Wheeler is still expected to be designated as a June first cut saving the Dolphins 3 million against the cap following that date.

GM Dennis Hickey said of the two following the announcement "We would like to thank Shelley and Philip for their contributions to the organization.".
