Chargers add new coach with an old name for Dolphins fans

The San Diego Chargers recently hired Chris Shula, grandson of Don Shula to be their new defensive quality coach.

The San Diego Chargers announced yesterday the hiring of Chris Shula as their defensive quality control coach. Shula is the grandson of former Miami Dolphins head coach and hall of fame inductee Don Shula and the son of former Cincinnati Bengals head coach David Shula. This will mark the third generation of Shula's in the NFL. Chris' uncle Mike Shula also coaches in the NFL as the offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers.

Chris spent the 2014 season as the defensive coordinator for John Carroll University. Shula had previously served as an assistant linebacker coach at Ball State before moving on to Indiana where he served as a defensive backs coach. Chris played linebacker for Miami of Ohio.
