The Miami Hurricanes and Washington State Cougars travel to El Paso Texas to play each other in the Sun Bowl. The Hurricanes will, of course, be led by interim head coach Larry Scott who took over the Canes after Al Golden was fired during the season. Scott will be looking to place a positive mark on his resume with this game as he enters a postseason of uncertainty with the recent hiring of Mark Richt to lead the Canes going into 2016.
Todays game will mark the first meeting ever between the two schools. Miami should be on solid footing with quarterback Brad Kaaya under center. This is Kaaya's sophomore year at the U where he has thrown for 274.5 yards per game, leading all ACC passers. It also marks a season where he threw for over 3,000 yards for the second straight season.
Washington is 4th in the Pac-12 giving up passing yards but gave up nearly 200 yards per game on the ground. The Cougars head coach, Mike Leach won the Pac-12 Coach of the Year award for their 8 and 4 records. The same record at Miami, 8 and 4, saw their head coach sent packing. Different schools, vastly different expectations.
