NFL Draft Order 2016: Updated order following Week 14

The Miami Dolphins climb back into the top ten in the 2016 NFL Draft order projections following their Week 14 Monday Night Football loss.

The Miami Dolphins lost to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football last night to wrap up the NFL's Week 14 schedule. Following Week 14, there have been several changes to the projected first-round draft order for the 2016 NFL Draft, including the Tennessee Titans moving back into the top overall pick and the Dolphins moving back into the top ten.

Miami is now 5-8 on the year, guaranteeing them a seventh-straight non-winning season. The loss moves them into a tie with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC, with Jacksonville beating Miami in the playoff standings based on head-to-head records. The Jaguars also are ahead of the Dolphins in the draft, having a weaker strength of schedule than Miami. The two AFC 5-8 clubs are then followed by a trio of NFC teams: the New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Rams. That grouping comes into play starting in the second round.

The NFL Draft order is set in reverse order of the team's standings from the previous season. The team with the worst record gets the first overall pick, the second worst record gets the second pick, and so on through the first 20 picks. The last 12 picks are the playoff teams for the preceding season, with the order determined by the round in which the team was eliminated, with the Super Bowl champion picking last.

Teams with identical records are ordered based on strength of schedule, then conference record, then division record. Finally, the league will use a coin toss at the NFL Scouting Combine to determine who gets the better pick if everything else is equal. The teams with the same record then rotate in each round. For example, the Titans with the first overall pick would pick third in the second round, with the San Diego Chargers moving into the first pick of the second round position and the Cleveland Browns second. All three teams have 3-10 records at this point.

The full, first-round draft order following Week 14, thanks to Dan Kadar from Mocking the Draft, is:
