Rob Gronkowski injury leads to carting tight end to locker room

The New England Patriots trail the Denver Broncos late in their Sunday Night Football game, but may have already lost.

The New England Patriots have seen exactly what they did not want to see in their game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football. Despite having a lead late in the game, the Patriots may have suffered the biggest loss they could: tight end Rob Gronkowski has been carted off the field with an apparent leg injury.

Gronkowski attempted to make a catch, when he was hit low by Darian Stewart. Immediately, Gronkowski grabbed at his knee and showed his frustration. The training staff came out and tested his knee before calling for the cart.

Gronkowski had six receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown on the night before the injury.

New England would punt the ball back to the Broncos three plays later. Brock Osweiler would then direct Denver on a five-play 83-yard drive to take a 24-21 lead with just over a minute to play.
