Defensive Coordinator Kevin Coyle Fired

This should come as no surprise.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Another coach bites the dust. As reported by Albert Breer, the Dolphins have parted ways with Kevin Coyle.

This is no surprise. He was expected to be fired this week with or without Joe Philbin. The defense has regressed each year since Coyle was named defensive coordinator. According to NFL.com, the Dolphins are the 30th ranked defense in the league.

Defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo will be taking over the defensive play calling. The Dolphins reached out to several coaches including Jim Schwartz, to see if there was any interest in joining the coaching staff. While Schwartz would have been a great addition, he declined the offer.

It will be interesting to see the defensive adjustments. Will Jamar Taylor be starting over Brice McCain now? The defense can't get much worse. It's pretty bad when your big name players are a no show during the games. Coyle was nice guy, but it was time for a change.
