Dolphins preparing to fire Philbin according to report

The Miami Dolphins may fire head coach Joe Philbin today, according to a report.

It seems almost common knowledge at this point that the Miami Dolphins will be making some sort of coaching change this week, as owner Stephen Ross looks to spark a stagnant and lifeless franchise. According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, that change may be right at the top, as league sources tell him the Dolphins, as of Sunday night, were preparing to fire head coach Joe Philbin.

Schefter wrote on his Facebook page:

As of last night, the Dolphins were preparing to fire head coach Joe Philbin, per league sources. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross always could change his mind, but the organization was preparing to make a move as soon as today, per sources.

Schefter went on to speculate that the Dolphins could look to tight ends coach Dan Campbell to take on the interim head coach role.

Some sort of official announcement about the future of the Dolphins coaching staff is expected sometime early this week.
