Former Dolphin Rob Konrad swims 9 miles to shore after falling from boat!

Warren Zinn-USA TODAY Sports

Former Miami Dolphin fullback Rob Konrad was fishing alone on Wednesday when he apparently fell from the boat he was fishing from. The fishing boat that Konrad was fishing from was set to auto pilot and following Rob falling in, continued on its course. Konrad then managed to swim 9 miles to shore.

Konrad was later found on a beach in Palm Beach by the Palm Beach County Sheriffs department after friends of Konrad had alerted the authorities when he did not return in time. Both the Sheriffs department and the Coast Guard searched for him before locating him on the beach at around 4:40 AM this morning where he was showing signs of hypothermia.

Konrad was taken to a local hospital for treatment by the Sheriffs department. The Coast Guard estimated that he had been in the water for between 10 and 12 hours before making it to shore. Konrad is expected to be ok following the incident.

Konrad, a former second round draft pick played fullback for the Dolphins from 1999 to 2004. Konrad is currently the CEO of Alterna Wealth Management and also serves as one of the managing Directors of KT Capital Partners.
