The Pro Bowl once again will take place in the same venue as the Super Bowl this year, the University Of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale Arizona. Temperatures in the Phoenix area are forecast to be in the mid to high 70's at game time. The game is sold out for this evening and the retractable roof on the stadium is expected to be open. The players have been in Glendale this week going through what have been described as extremely light workouts.
The Pro Bowl is of course played under a new format now where two captains are chosen from among former players and then the to players conduct a draft selecting their players. This of course also means that teammates, in some cases, will be facing off against one another. This seasons teams will be headed by former Hall Of Fame wide receivers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin. The draft was held this past Wednesday night. The coaching staff's for the game will be headed up by the Cowboys Jason Garrett for Irvin's team and the Ravens John Harbaugh for team Carter.
The Cowboys Tony Romo is expected to start for team Irvin which is of course coached by his own head coach, Garrett. The Colts Andrew Luck is expected to start for team Carter. Both should excel under a format designed to help players avoid any injuries and in a game that has no real meaning including having nearly zero blocking and what just barely passes for defense. Both teams held their final practice yesterday on the campus of Scottsdale Community College which was really no more than a glorified walk through in shorts with an autograph signing session.
