The 10 and 6 Baltimore Ravens will travel this afternoon to take on the 12 and 4 New England Patriots at their home field, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. This will be the first game of the four Divisional Playoff games this weekend, following the four Wild-card Playoff games that took place last weekend. The Patriots were home last weekend enjoying their bye week while the Ravens were facing their divisional rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens defeated the Steelers 30 to 17 to advance.
The New England Patriots have over the last decade and a half been the most consistent team in the NFL. Not only are the Patriots once again in the playoffs but they have also once again secured home field advantage in the AFC, not to mention their 5th consecutive bye week in the playoffs. Over the span of those 15 years, no other team in the NFL has won more home games in the regular season or in the playoffs. The Patriots have an 18 and 8 playoff game record in that time. In the same span the Patriots have 109 home wins, 14 more then the next NFL team and have gone 12 and 3 at home in playoff games.
Second only to the Patriots in playoff wins in the last 15 seasons is the Baltimore Ravens with a record over that span of 15 and 7. As would be expected these two teams from the same conference have faced off multiple times over that time including facing one another four times in just the last six post seasons. While the Patriots hold the upper-hand over the Ravens in total overall playoff record in that time, two of the three home playoff losses the Patriots have suffered came at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens are also one of only two teams with a winning road record in the playoffs at 10 and 5.
