Lamar Miller named FedEx Ground Player of Week

Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been named the NFL's FedEx Ground Player of the Week.

Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller was awarded the Week 17 FedEx Ground Player of the Week award is was announced yesterday. Miller picked up the award after his 178-yard rushing performance against the New York Jets in the season finale, a day which included the third longest rush in league history, a 97-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Miller topped the 1,000-yard mark for the season on the touchdown run.

Also nominated for the award was Frank Gore, who gained 144 yards for the San Francisco 49ers, and the Dallas Cowboys' DeMarco Murray who tallied 100 yards and a touchdown.

Miller picking up the award in Week 17 gave the award to the Dolphins in the opening and closing weeks of the season. Miami's Knowshon Moreno was awarded the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after gaining 134 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 1.
