Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles could be out of this week's game against the Miami Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins are not the only team who could be without their top running back this week when the team welcomes the Kansas City Chiefs into Sun Life Stadium. While the Dolphins are dealing with a dislocated elbow suffered by Knowshon Moreno, the Chiefs are reacting to a high ankle sprain for Jamaal Charles.

Charles left the Chiefs' game against the Denver Broncos yesterday with the injury. He had just two carries for seven yards before the first quarter injury sent him to the locker room, He was briefly listed as questionable to return before being downgraded to out.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury today, according to Arrowhead Pride.

High ankle sprains typically take a couple of weeks to rehab, depending on the severity of the sprain. If it is a grade one sprain, the typical recovery time is one-to-four weeks. Grade two or three sprains take longer, and can require surgery.

The Dolphins and Chiefs kick off at 4:25pm ET this upcoming Sunday.
