You have to assume that the Ravens, heading in to tonight's game would love to change the dialog back to the game on the field after another few days of controversy surrounding Ray Rice's domestic violence incident. This follows a second tape of the incident being released showing the full extent of what happened that evening in the elevator. No doubt the Ravens felt no choice but to shortly thereafter terminate Rice's contract in order to stem the outcry from the public. The Ravens must find a way to get past the distraction of the Rice situation and also find a way to hold on to passes from Joe Flacco after dropping a week one NFL high 6 passes. Flacco did manage to throw for 345 yards on the day but 80 of those yards came on one play to Steve Smith late in the game. Ultimately the Ravens managed to gain more yards than the Bengals last week but were done in by their two turnovers vs Bengals having none.
The Steelers come in to tonight's game knowing that they much also improve to win. They did manage to hang on last week over the Browns by a score of 30 to 27 after leading the Browns 27 to 3 at half time. Most specifically their defense must tighten up after allowing the Browns to score on four consecutive possessions to open up the second half of last weeks contest and then only securing the win on a 41 yard field goal as time ran out. Ben Roethlisberger had his career best first half throwing for 278 but then was held to 87 yards in the second half. Le'Veon Bell hopes to continue with last weeks success having racked up 109 on the ground and catching another 6 passes for 88 more yards. Both teams in tonight's contest like to portray themselves as "physical teams" but Pitsburgh has lost for of their last 6 games against the Ravens.
