Today we lost one of the most popular actors and comedians of our lifetime. Robin McLaurin Williams was born on July 21st 1951 in Chicago to a former model mother and a father that was a top executive with Ford. Williams started his career as a stand up comedian and working on bit parts on TV. Most of us because aware of his existence when the Happy Days spin off Mork & Mind hit TV in 1978 and was an instant hit.
Williams went on to act in such films as Popeye (1979), The World According To Garp (1982), Moscow on the Hudson (1984), Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Cadillac Man (1990), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), Hook (1991), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995), Nine Months (1995), The Birdcage (1996), Good Will Hunting (1997), Night at the Museum (2006), Happy Feed (2006) abd RV (2006).
Williams was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor three different times. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Good Will Hunting. He also won two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Grammy Awards.
Sadly Robin was found unconscious at his home in California today and was later pronounced dead at the scene. The Corner has left open the possibility that the death was a suicide. Williams publicist reported today that Robin has been "battling severe depression" in the time leading up to his death. Williams wife released a statement that said in part "I lost my husband and best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artist and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken". Robin Williams was 63. RIP ROBIN!
