Dolphins Credo t-shirt parallels Soldier's Creed

The Miami Dolphins have a new t-shirt, with a new attitude for the team. It seems to have some times to the US Army's Soldier's Creed.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

I am an American Soldier
I am a Warrior and a member of a team
I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values
I will always place the mission first
I will never accept defeat
I will never quit
I will never leave a fallen comrade
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills
I always maintain my arms, my equipment, and myself
I am an expert and I am a professional
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life
I am an American Soldier

Those words comprise the US Army's Soldier's Creed.  It's something that, since 2003, has been taught to every member of the United States Army as a way to embody being a professional Soldier in a professional Army.  It's taught to understand that the Army wins.  Soldiers in the Army complete the mission, take care of the team, and, above all, serve the people of the United States.

Why did you get a glimpse into the Army tonight?

Because the Miami Dolphins have a new t-shirt that directly parallels the Soldier's Creed.

As reported by Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post, as a part of putting last year's bully debacle behind  them, the Dolphins developed a new shirt.

The whole thing reads:

I am a Miami Dolphin
I am a warrior and a member of an unbeatable team
I will always place the team first
If I see something - I will say something - I commit to call it as it is
I will develop undying trust with the man to my left and right
I will never accept defeat
I will never quit
I am the change that I want to see in my team
I live respect and truth telling
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, and proficient in my position tasks and drills
I am a professional
I am a Miami Dolphin

The "Miami Dolphins Credo," as the t-shirt labels it, is designed to help the team define themselves.  "We sat down as a group of men, teammates, brothers, and came up with a group of statements about what the Dolphins are and should be," Cameron Wake told Pro Football Talk tonight.

Using the Army's Soldier's Creed as a basis for what it means to be a member of the Miami Dolphins and a member of the team is definitely an effective place to start when building the Dolphins Credo.  Now it's a matter of turning it from a bunch of words into something by which you live.

If the Dolphins can do that, then they will be on the right track to forgetting last year.
