2014 NFL Draft Rumors: Miami Dolphins Could Seek Trade Options For Zack Martin

New, comments

The Miami Dolphins may be have a trade in the making.

The Miami Dolphins will be on the clock with the No. 19 selection on Thursday, and there seems to be a growing belief that Miami could be targeting their vital need -- a right tackle.

According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, league circles believe the Dolphins may package a deal to go get Notre Dame's Zack Martin.

As it currently stands, Hickey and the Dolphins will go on the clock some time in the 10 p.m. hour. The problem: the elite players will have been off the board by then, and much of the second tier will probably be gone, too.

That's why there's a growing belief in league circles that the Dolphins will a package a deal and go get someone they truly like Thursday night. And that player is probably versatile Notre Dame lineman Zack Martin.

Martin is projected to go No. 12-16 on most boards. He is the fourth best offensive linemen in the 2014 NFL draft pool.

The 6-foot-4, 308-pound lineman started all 39 games in the 2013-14 season for the Irish, and has the ability to play one of the guard positions or right tackle, which general manager Dennis Hickey desires.

If Miami stands pat, they could target Alabama's C.J. Moseley (if he falls), Virginia's Morgan Moses or Tennessee's Ja'Wuan James.

Miami will prepare for all options, but don't be surprised if they sneak up the ladder to grab their guy in Martin.
